Biography

Certification & Education

James W. Maxey, MD chose to practice medicine because of his father. His dad was a service manager for a local auto dealer, so he grew up around tools and was fascinated by the idea of helping people fix their problems – but for this motivated young man, he was attracted to the medical field where he could put that same helpful spirit to work repairing people’s fractures and injuries.

For the last two decades, he’s been doing just that… taking care of patients and educating others throughout the world about how to improve patient care. Dr. Maxey is an internationally recognized expert and lecturer on fracture repair and even has the most widely viewed Orthopaedic Internet Live Surgical Procedure.

In addition, Dr. Maxey’s surgical lecture and live surgical procedure has been featured on NBC’s Law & Order. Television shows such as this strive for authenticity, and in this case, they turned to Dr. Maxey for his expertise. He is well-published and has given hundreds of presentations. He is also a clinical assistant professor of orthopaedic surgery at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Peoria.

It is this same expertise that led Dr. Maxey to France, Germany and Italy to assist in the development of new technology that is now utilized for hip fracture repair here in the United States. He has lectured internationally and operated in Medellin, Columbia and Bogota, Columbia.

Dr. Maxey and his wife have two adult children.

Dr. Maxey is great, he was a big part of my brothers healing 17 years ago. And he was up front and honest about my son’s options. We were more than just a paycheck to him.

Dr. Maxey is a very nice man. Explained everything thoroughly.

Amazing doctor. He was very sweet and patient with my mother who has dementia and very helpful to my brother and myself who were there with her.

Dr. Maxey is fantastic! He answered all my questions, spent time getting to know me, and provided excellent care. I am fortunate that he is my doctor.
