Megan Reese, PA-C is originally from New Hampshire and has lived in multiple states around the country before landing in Illinois for her job at Great Plains Orthopaedics. It was always her dream to be a PA in orthopedics.
Megan was a gymnast growing up and a pole vaulter in college, so sports medicine and orthopaedics were naturally a part of her life. In high school she shadowed at a nearby ortho practice and after spending time in the operating room she knew that surgery was a goal for her future. During PA school anything related to orthopedics and surgery was always her absolute favorite. Her ortho clinical rotation confirmed her interests and she was determined to work in this specialty.
Megan loves that orthopedics allows the PA to follow a patient through their journey from initial injury to recovery. She is rewarded by assisting patients regain their ability to live healthy, active lifestyles.
Why this specialty: Megan was an athlete her whole life, so injuries came as part of the package. She was treated by orthopedic providers and watched injured teammates return to competing thanks to the care of an orthopedic team. She has always loved anatomy, so ortho was a perfect fit, and now she gets to play a role on the team helping the patient back into the game – whether that is a competitive sport or their normal life routine.
Hobbies: Running, working out, hiking, cooking, traveling
Family: Husband, Taylor, and their black lab Winnie
Philosophy: The human body and intricate anatomy behind our design is a realm of science that impacts our daily lives. Megan loves how in orthopedics the surgical technologies are ever-changing and improving to better serve our patients. There is always something new to learn and innovative research being published.
