I love surgery and I have always been involved in sports. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology with a sports medicine minor, so orthopedic surgery was a perfect fit.
Most memorable patient or case: I cared for a young man who was involved in a severe car accident and had to stay in the hospital for many months. I became friends with him and his wonderful family through this terrible tragedy. It was amazing to see him overcome so much and witness true family support and prayers that helped him to heal.
Community involvement: I have run the Memphis to Peoria St. Jude run for many years. I also volunteer at my children’s school and our church when I have a chance.
Hobbies: Running, anything that my kids are involved in, reading
Family: Husband, Andrew Finchum. Son, Edward Finchum. Son, Chet Finchum
Philosophy: I have always had an interest in helping people and the medical field fit nicely. It’s always changing and there’s new research out all the time so it’s an area where I can constantly learn new things, which I love. I’m also able to get to know my patients and be able to help them enjoy life to its fullest. We chose Peoria because I really liked the job that Great Plains Orthopaedics offered and it wasn’t too far from home in Indiana. We have come to really enjoy the Peoria area and all of the fun things it has to offer.
