Since the late 1960s, Great Plains has been a pioneer in the prevention, evaluation and treatment of orthopaedic and sports-related injuries. GPO Founder Dr. Bernard Cahill paved the way for the future of this orthopaedic sub-specialty. He was not only revered in our community, but was also respected throughout the world. Great Plains Orthopaedics continues to serve as a leader in sports medicine today.
Our skilled physicians and specialized staff work with patients to develop customized programs that promote a return to pre-injury status using the quickest and safest methods possible. We also offer professionally designed and monitored individualized exercise regimens.

To access the athletic trainer please see your coach or athletic director and they can let you know the next time the athletic trainer will be on site.
On-field medical coverage for sporting events
Our sports medicine staff is available to be present at local sporting events to provide emergency management of severe and life threatening injuries, as well as evaluation and treatment of other injuries that occur during the contest.
Pre-season athletic screening
Our athletic training staff can provide an assessment of the musculoskeletal system to include athletes’ range of motion, flexibility, strength, balance and coordination. Recommendations will be made to correct the identified deficiencies.
After hours telephone consultation
As athletic injuries and accidents occur at inopportune times and often after normal business hours Great Plains Orthopaedics provides after hour telephone consultation, with a certified athletic trainer, for questions concerning a new non-emergency sports injury. The athletic trainer can be reached by calling the answering service at 309.677.6029. Please call 911 for emergencies or severe injuries. During this telephone consultation the athletic trainer can provide recommendations for treatment and guidance for medical follow up.
Coaching and training clinics
