Valerie Corwin chose to utilize her skills as a Physician Assistant in the field of orthopaedics because it is an extremely interesting and very rewarding specialty. She says she thoroughly enjoys working in orthopaedic surgery because it combines the opportunity to use her clinical skills to preoperatively diagnose patients and also to assist with surgical procedures.
Mrs. Corwin is well-trained with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Illinois where she also majored in Spanish. She continued that focus on the Hispanic population when completing her graduate studies with her Master in Public Health thesis titled, The Impact of Acculturation on the Knowledge, Perceptions, and Utilization of Health Care Services Among Latina Women.
Dedicated to helping patients regain their health, Mrs. Corwin received her Physician Assistant–Master of Health Science Degree (M.M.S.) and Master in Public Health Degree from Arcadia University in Pennsylvania before returning to Illinois.
Mrs. Corwin is married and enjoys running, playing piano and reading. She has previously been involved with student and community activities such as blood drives and Habitat for Humanity.
