1967

• Dr. Bernard Cahill joined Dr. James Flaherty, a solo orthopaedic practitioner, creating Orthopedic Associates of Peoria.  

1979

• Dr. Ronald Palmer joined our practice.

1985

• Having outgrown their space at St. Mark’s Court, Orthopedic Associates of Peoria relocated its office to the Hillcrest Medical Plaza.

1986

• Dr. Flaherty retired from our practice.  

1987

• Dr. Mark Phillips, joined Drs. Cahill and Palmer in practice.

1991

• The physicians moved to their present location at 303 N. Kumpf Boulevard and opened the Orthopedic Institute of Illinois. This new facility incorporated clinical offices, an Ambulatory Surgery Center, and Great Plains Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Center.
• Dr. James Maxey, joined our practice.

1992

• Dr. Clark Rians, joined our practice.

1994

• Dr. Ted Maurer and Dr. Gregory Adamson joined our practice.

1998

• Dr. Richard Driessnack joined Great Plains Orthopaedics.

1999

• Dr. Jeffrey Garst and Dr. Stephen Orlevitch joined our practice.
• A satellite office in North Peoria was opened at 7800 N. Sommer. 
• Dr. Bernard Cahill retired. 

2000

• Physical Therapy office was opened at the 7800 N. Sommer location.

2001

• Dr. Steven Below joined our practice.

2002

• An MRI was installed at the North Office facility.

2003

• Dr. Piero Capecci joined our practice.

2007

• The Physicians of Orthopedic Institute of Illinois proudly celebrated 40 years of providing high quality comprehensive orthopaedic care to patients throughout Central Illinois. At this milestone, the physicians decided to consolidate their practice names to Great Plains Orthopaedics.

2008

• Dr. Richard Driessnack left Great Plains Orthopaedics to pursue teaching and research.
• The GPO Family was saddened by the passing Dr. Bernard Cahill.

2009

• Dr. Ronald Palmer retired from our practice.
• Dr. Jason Anane-Sefah joined Great Plains Orthopaedics.

2010

• Dr. Ryan Robinson joined our practice.
• Dr. Gregory Adamson left Great Plains Orthopaedics.
• Dr. Richard Driessnack returns to Great Plains Orthopaedics after serving as Assistant Professor in the Department of Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation at the prestigious Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
